Yes, as long as the room sits on a concrete slab. Most Houston homes are built on one, over clay soil that swells and shrinks. That slab is what we coat, and it has to be bare concrete before any epoxy goes down.
Tile, wood, carpet and the glue under them have to come up first. That removal is its own job, done before our crew arrives. If the slab has old paint or an old coating, we grind it off during prep.
From the bare slab, our crew diamond grinds the surface so the epoxy can bond, then repairs cracks and joints. Next comes a moisture test, since water vapor rising through the slab is the number one reason coatings fail here. When the test calls for it, a vapor barrier primer goes down first. Solid color is the simplest look, in gloss, satin or flat. Gloss reflects the most light, while satin and flat keep the shine low in a living room or media room. A clear topcoat goes over the color. For rooms with strong sun, a polyaspartic topcoat is UV stable and does not yellow.
Metallic epoxy floors suit foyers, living rooms, kitchens and media rooms. Metallic pigment in clear epoxy is worked by hand into marble and veined patterns. Every floor comes out one of a kind. A metallic floor usually takes about three days: a prep day, then two days of coats and cure.
Laundry rooms and mud rooms take the most dirt, and flake epoxy floors suit them. The vinyl flakes hide concrete flaws and add texture and grip underfoot. A quartz broadcast finish adds the same kind of grip in a workshop or home gym. If you like the look of the concrete itself, stained concrete floors color the slab and seal it.
We install for about 200 custom home builders in the Houston area, and we schedule around their other trades. On a new home, the interior epoxy floor waits for the slab to cure. New concrete needs at least 28 days of cure before a coating goes on it.
Age alone does not clear a slab, though. The moisture test still decides when the first coat goes down. Some tests take days. The calcium chloride test, one standard method, sits sealed on the bare slab for 60 to 72 hours.
Houston air stays humid most of the year, so the dew point matters during the install. Coating standards call for a surface at least 5 degrees F above the dew point, from prep through cure. Closer than that, moisture from the air can form on the concrete. Moisture trapped under a coating can make it fail early.

Pick the color and finish from samples. Options include full flake, solid color, quartz and metallic.
