Most Tomball garages fall into one of two groups. Inside the old city limits the median home dates to 1990. Out in the wider 77375 and 77377 ZIP areas the median jumps to 2008 and 2002. Older slabs get crack and joint repair, and fresh builder slabs get a moisture test.

Tomball keeps adding master-planned rooftops. Amira covers 554 acres at Mueschke Road, just north of the Grand Parkway. Two production builders are building it toward 1,100 homes. Woodtrace took a 2021 Texas Star Award for best overall community in its size class.
Raburn Reserve is a newer community with builders still active. Wildwood at Northpointe is closing out a gated section. West of town, Willowcreek Ranch holds custom estate homes on 750 wooded acres. Those garages run deep, and owners often add a workshop or a home gym behind them.
A brand new garage slab is clean, but green concrete still holds water. Every slab gets a moisture test, and a vapor barrier primer where the reading calls for one. Skipping that step is why coatings lift off newer slabs in this climate. A custom builder's project manager wrote on Google that our crews always leave the site clean.
USDA soil maps split the Tomball area in two. North and east of town the ground is Boy loamy fine sand, rated moderately well drained. West toward Rosehill it turns to Kenney loamy fine sand and Landman fine sand. South and southwest toward the Grand Parkway the maps show Wockley and Clodine, both rated somewhat poorly drained.
That matters under a slab. Ground rated somewhat poorly drained stays wet longer after rain, so more vapor pushes up through the concrete. Moisture coming up through a slab is the number one reason floor coatings fail in this region. The moisture test tells us whether a vapor barrier primer is needed, and it runs on every job.
The Harris County Flood Control District puts about half the city in the Willow Creek watershed. Spring Creek drains the other half and forms the county line. The city is funding storm sewer work on Lovett and Carrell Streets for repetitive flooding. If a garage has taken water before, we look harder at the slab and its joints.
Tomball summers push garage temperatures well above 90 degrees, and the doors take direct sun. A plain epoxy topcoat yellows under that kind of UV load. So most Tomball garages get an epoxy base coat with a UV stable topcoat over it. A polyaspartic topcoat does not yellow, cures fast and handles high humidity.
Epoxy is the base because it bonds to concrete better than the newer chemistries. Polyaspartic, polyurea or polyurethane goes on top. A full polyaspartic system is available when you need the floor back in one day. Most garages here run as a two-day job.
Full flake is the most common finish in Tomball garages. The chip broadcast hides slab flaws and adds grip underfoot. Solid color in gloss or satin is the other common pick. For a collector's garage or an interior room, metallic epoxy runs about three days.
Tomball counts more than 1,500 businesses and close to 14,000 jobs. Health care and oilfield manufacturing carry much of that payroll. The Tomball Business and Technology Park fills 99.5 acres at Hufsmith-Kohrville and Holderrieth Roads. That light industrial park sold out in 2023.
Those buildings need floors that take forklift traffic, carts, grease and cleaning chemicals. We coat warehouses, auto shop bays, showrooms, retail spaces and offices. Commercial systems here usually run 2 to 3 millimeters thick. Safety line striping, walkway markings and custom logos go into the floor while it is built.
Restaurants and bars in Old Town Tomball run on a different clock. Kitchen floors get quartz broadcast systems, coved at the walls and sealed at the drains. We schedule that work around service hours, weekdays. Four crews run out of west Houston, and Tomball is about 22 miles up the road.
