Wet concrete gets slick fast. Anti-slip floor coatings put grip into the floor itself, so traction stays there after the mop or the rain. We install them across Greater Houston for kitchens, walkways, ramps, loading areas, pool surrounds and apartment common areas.
The grip comes from what goes into the coating. A quartz broadcast gives the heaviest texture, which suits wash-down areas like commercial kitchen floors. An aluminum oxide additive mixed into the clear topcoat gives a lighter grip for walkways and common areas. A textured topcoat sits in between and works well on ramps and entries.

More grip means more texture, and more texture holds more dirt. So we set the level to match the area. A kitchen line that gets hosed down needs a coarse quartz surface. A lobby or a hallway does better with a fine additive in the topcoat.
The choice comes down to what lands on the floor and how the floor gets cleaned. Water, grease, oil and soap each behave differently underfoot. A ride-on scrubber can keep a coarse quartz floor clean. Where cleaning is a mop and bucket, a lighter texture works better.
We can put a sample area down so you can feel the surface before the whole floor is coated. Wheel traffic and foot traffic often want different levels, so a mixed space may get both. Houston stays humid most of the year, and heavy rain is normal. Water tracks in at entries, and it sits on pool surrounds and outdoor landings. Sun-exposed slabs also need a UV stable topcoat, so the color holds. Polyaspartic floor coatings handle that part well.
Moisture also comes up through the slab. Most Houston buildings sit on slab-on-grade over Gulf Coast clay. We run a moisture test before we coat. Where the test calls for it, a vapor barrier primer goes down first.
Past anti-slip work includes a swim school and an oilfield services company's facility. We have also coated the common areas of an apartment building. Breezeways, stair landings and walkways all get wet in Houston weather. We have been installing floor coatings here since 2008.
A parking garage floor coating takes a beating that a warehouse floor never sees. Tires turn, brake and scrub in the same spots. Ramps and turn lanes wear first, so those areas get the most texture. Drive lanes, stalls and the walking paths can each be finished differently.
A traffic deck coating on an upper level also has to shed water and flex with the deck. We coat the deck, the ramps and the marked crosswalks together. Work is staged in sections so part of the garage stays open.
Loading areas and dock aprons take the same approach. Forklift and pallet jack wheels polish a smooth slab until it turns slick. A quartz or aluminum oxide surface keeps the grip where wheels and feet meet.

We measure the slab, look at its condition and run a moisture test. Then you get a quote for the system we recommend.
Pick the color and finish from samples. Options include full flake, solid color, quartz and metallic.
We diamond grind the slab and repair cracks and joints. A vapor barrier primer goes down when the moisture test calls for it. Then comes the base coat, the flake or pigment broadcast, and the clear topcoat.
Most garages are a two-day job, and a metallic floor takes about three days. We do a final walk-through and tell you when to drive on the floor.
