Solid Color Epoxy Floors in Houston, TX

Solid Color Floors · Houston, TX

One clean color, wall to wall

A solid color epoxy floor is one even color from wall to wall. A pigmented epoxy base coat goes down over the ground slab, and a clear topcoat seals it. No chips, no metallic swirl, just a clean surface in the color you pick. It is the finish that makes a garage, a shop or a warehouse read as one floor. We install it across Greater Houston as part of our epoxy flooring work.

Most people pick a gray, a tan or a white, and the color chart below shows the standard range. Safety yellow, red and blue are there for borders and walkways on a commercial floor. Epoxy One has coated floors in Houston since 2008, and we bring the color samples to the free estimate so you can hold them against your walls and your car. Call or text (281) 831-5656.

What is a solid color epoxy floor?

It is the plainest build we do, and often the right one. After the slab is ground and repaired, a pigmented epoxy base coat is rolled on. That coat carries the color. Once it cures, a clear topcoat goes over it, and that clear coat is what takes the wear, the hot tires and the mopping.

The topcoat also sets the sheen. Gloss reflects the lights and reads like a showroom. Satin cuts the glare in a room with big windows. Flat hides scuffs on a shop floor that gets hard use. We match the sheen to the space when we quote the job.

A solid color floor does one thing a flake epoxy floor does not. It shows the slab underneath. Ripples, patches and old crack repairs all read through an even color, so the prep has to be right before the color goes down. That is why we grind every slab and fill every crack first.

Epoxy floor colors and where each one fits

Gray is the most common pick for a garage or a warehouse. Concrete gray and delta fog look like clean concrete, and sterling and slate run darker and hide tire marks better. The tans, from bone and flaxen to wheat, sand and buff, warm up a garage that opens onto a beige or brick home. Thatch brown, adobe, red brick and seattle red suit a porch, a workshop or a floor that needs to match a brand.

White and light colors bounce light. The hangar floors we coated for the Lone Star Flight Museum are high gloss white, and a customer wrote that the museum moves 40 or more planes a month across them. The same idea works in a detail shop or a home gym where you want the room bright.

On a commercial floor the color does a job. Safety yellow, red and blue go down as borders, aisle lines and walkways over a gray field, so traffic lanes read at a glance. We lay those out with the plant or warehouse manager before the first coat, and we build the same striping into commercial epoxy flooring across west Houston, Katy and Sugar Land.

Solid color garage floor coating in Houston heat

A Houston garage runs hot and humid most of the year, and the door lets in direct sun for hours a day. Plain epoxy yellows in that light, so the color coat is never the top layer. A UV stable polyurethane or polyaspartic topcoat goes over it and holds the color. Lighter colors also show yellowing sooner than dark ones, so a white or bone garage floor needs that clear coat most.

Most Houston homes sit on slab-on-grade concrete over Gulf Coast clay, which swells and shrinks with the weather. Slabs move, hairline cracks open, and moisture pushes up through the concrete as vapor. Moisture is the top reason a floor coating fails here, so we test every slab and prime with a vapor barrier when the reading calls for it.

Most garages are a two-day job. Day one is the grinding, the repairs and the moisture test. Day two is the color coat and the clear topcoat. We coat garages in new custom homes for about 200 Houston area builders, and a solid color is often what the builder specs, because it goes with any finish the buyer picks later. The work is backed by a written warranty. Ask us for the terms.

How We Work

How a Job With Epoxy One Runs

From the first call or text to the walk-through on the finished floor, here is how it goes.

1

Call or text

Reach us at (281) 831-5656 and tell us about the floor. We book estimates on weekdays.

2

Free on-site estimate

We measure the slab, look at its condition and run a moisture test. Then you get a quote for the system we recommend.

3

Color and finish

Pick the color and finish from samples. Options include full flake, solid color, quartz and metallic.

4

Prep and coats

We diamond grind the slab and repair cracks and joints. A vapor barrier primer goes down when the moisture test calls for it. Then comes the base coat, the flake or pigment broadcast, and the clear topcoat.

5

Cure and walk-through

Most garages are a two-day job, and a metallic floor takes about three days. We do a final walk-through and tell you when to drive on the floor.

FAQ

Solid Color Floors Questions, Answered

Common questions about solid color floors across west Houston, the suburbs and up to The Woodlands. If yours is not here, call or text and ask.

Call (281) 831-5656

What colors does a solid color epoxy floor come in?
Sixteen standard colors: bone, flaxen, wheat, sand, buff, thatch brown, adobe, red brick, seattle red, concrete gray, delta fog, sterling, slate, safety yellow, safety red and safety blue. Grays and tans are most of what we install in garages. The safety colors are for lines, borders and walkways on commercial floors. We bring the samples to the free estimate.
Is a solid color epoxy floor slippery?
A smooth gloss floor can get slick when it is wet. In a garage that is usually fine, since the floor dries fast and the car is the only traffic. For a shop, a ramp, a wet area or a commercial entry, we work a fine anti-slip grit into the clear topcoat. Heavier texture is its own system, covered on our anti-slip floor coatings page.
How does a solid color floor compare to flake?
Solid color is one even surface, and it is the simplest build. Flake broadcasts vinyl chips into the base coat, which hides slab flaws and adds texture. If your slab has patches and old crack repairs, flake covers them better. If you want a clean, single-color look and the slab is in good shape, solid color is the pick. Both get the same prep and the same clear topcoat.
What does a solid color epoxy floor cost?
Square footage sets the starting point, then the slab decides the rest. Grinding off an old coating, filling cracks and a vapor barrier primer when the moisture test calls for one all add work. The sheen and the topcoat you pick matter too. Estimates are free and quotes often come back within a day, so call or text (281) 831-5656.
Will a white or light gray garage floor show dirt and tire marks?
Light floors show dust and tire scuff more than a mid gray or a slate, and they need a mop more often. They also make a garage brighter and cooler looking than any other finish. If you park daily and want low upkeep, we point you to a mid or dark gray. If you want the bright showroom look, white with a gloss topcoat is the way, and we keep the clear coat UV stable so it holds its color.
Can you match a specific color or a company color?
The sixteen standard colors cover most floors, and we can tint a base coat closer to a specific shade on request. For a brand color on a commercial floor, bring the color reference to the estimate and we will tell you how close the pigment can get. Logos and decals are a separate step we set into the floor under the clear coat.

These guys did my garage floor back in November, Pablo really knows the technical knowledge and recommend a vapor barrier to be put down first. 3 months in and it still looks brand new. Went with Folsom color choice. Super easy to work with and plan around the drywall crew. Highly recommended!

I work for a custom home builder in the Houston area and we have been using Xpedite Coating for many years on our garage epoxy floors. They are very professional and timely and always leave the site clean after they are finished. I would highly recommend them for your next epoxy flooring need.

I used Xpedite Coatings twice to finish my epoxy flake garage floor at 2 properties. This guy is professional at what they do. The crew came and finished the job in a timely manner. The results look great and price is competitive. Highly recommended.
