A metallic epoxy floor starts with a solid color epoxy base over prepared concrete. Over that we pour a clear epoxy carrying metallic pigment, then work it by hand. The pigment drifts and settles as the resin levels out, and a marble pattern appears. It is one of the finishes we install as part of epoxy flooring in Houston.
Some customers call it liquid marble. No two floors come out alike, because the pattern forms while the resin is still wet. We install them in entryways, living areas, media rooms, restaurants, bars and event halls. A metallic finish is one of the choices on our epoxy garage floors.

The base coat goes down first, in a solid color that hides the gray concrete. Once it cures overnight, we mix metallic pigment into clear epoxy and pour it over the base. The pigment is a fine mica powder that reflects light, and it moves as the resin spreads.
From there it is hand work. Our crews pull the wet resin with squeegees and rollers, then move air across it. That opens veins and cells, and the pigment separates into light and dark ribbons. The pattern locks in as the epoxy levels out and cures.
Every metallic floor is one of a kind for that reason. We steer the color and the general pattern, and you pick both from samples first. The exact veining lands where the resin takes it.
Color comes first. We bring samples in coppers, bronzes, pearls, graphites, gunmetals, blues and greens. You pick a base color and the metallics that run through it. Darker bases read deep and glossy, and lighter pearls open up a room.
A metallic floor usually takes about three days. Day one is prep: we diamond grind the slab, repair cracks and joints, and test the slab for moisture. Days two and three are the base coat, the metallic layer and the clear topcoat. Cure time sits between the coats, so plan on staying off the floor.

Slabs move, crack and push moisture vapor up through the concrete. Moisture is the number one reason a coating fails here, so we test before we quote.
